Deciding to change jobs can be a hard decision.

Deciding to change countries is even tougher.

But that’s what I set out to do earlier this year.

I wanted to see what it’s like to live in a different country, a different culture. I searched for a company that would not only accept my difficult position of an immigrant, but also embrace it and support my relocation. And I’ve found just that.

From our first Skype call meeting, I had a good feeling about Tappable. During my conversations with Sam and Jack, it seemed like both them and I, simply couldn’t wait to start working together. They struck me as a company that works hard, but takes care of its employees. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I decided to become a part of their team.

Moving from Poland to the United Kingdom, turned out to be way, more difficult than I expected. I wasn’t ready for the bureaucratic wall that I hit. From renting my first flat to getting a bank account and insurance number setup, everything seemed to drag in time.

Luckily, my new co-workers were understanding and happy to guide me through the important bits and tough decisions. After a few days of working, I got to know everyone in the office and they turned out to be as friendly as they are professional.

I was introduced to numerous projects, to get a feeling of what the company is doing and began my own work. I started by doing small updates, to existing projects and sinking my teeth into the various tools that are used every day, to speed up the development process.

Then came the best part – I was assigned as the main developer of a fresh, big project. It looks like quite a challenge, but at the same time an opportunity to show that I can get things done and hiring me was the right decision.

The bar is set quite high, because everyone gives their best to achieve the highest quality of products possible, but I’m trying not to let that scare me. Luckily for me, some of the tension is blown off every day during lunchbreak, when we… shoot werewolves! Or rather, play board games together.

To top it off, each Friday we play football together. Not being a very good player, I was hesitant at first, but now I’m looking forward to the games.

All in all, this looks like a good start of a new chapter in my life. I hope I’ll have a great time here in Tappable and continue to get along with everyone.
